Birding

Kodiak is widely-known to be one of the best destinations for birding in all of Alaska. The diversity of landscapes on the island provide habitat for a wide array of species and serve as the perfect backdrop for photos.

Key bird species include: Black-legged Kittiwakes, Rock Sandpipers, Black Turnstones, Black Oystercatchers, Harlequin Ducks, Steller Eiders, Pine Grosbeaks, Red-Breasted Mergansers, Barrow’s Goldeneyes, and Bald Eagles.
